A substance abuse assessment is a screening used to determine whether treatment is needed. Assessments typically include an evaluation of the parameters of drinking behavior, signs, symptoms, and severity of alcohol dependence, and negative consequences of use; and formal diagnosis of alcohol abuse or dependence. This can help identify warning signs of substance abuse.
